In the midst of an Instagram scrolling vortex, I stumbled across this master piece of beauty and simplicity. With an instant save and a quick google search, a perfect Sunday Sanctuary was in my horizon. And here we are now at Vila Tugendhat, designed by the architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and built in 1929 – 1930, is a monument of modern architecture, being of of the only examples of modern architecture in the Czech Republic.
Mies an expert of light allows the interiors to speak for themselves where the creamy onyx walls subtly change colour through the day and the seasons. Mies explained “the importance of utilising noble materials in Modernist structures which do not contain decoration or ornamentations,” Mies your speaking my language…
