It wasn’t rocket science but it certainly grabbed our attention and made us wonder why we hadn’t already thought of it ourselves. You know the moment I’m talking about .. that moment when Demna Gvasalia’s updated Balenciaga girl strode down the catwalk in puffer jackets and coats, slung ever so nonchalantly off the shoulders.
In theory we’ve been doing it for years but not with such foresight or finesse. Maybe there is a coat that you wear belted, that one shoulder always seems to slip down to the side, or if you’re like me you might like stealing your boyfriends sweater and the neck is way too big and it automatically slips off your shoulders. Either way the full blown off the shoulder concept shouldn’t be wholeheartedly saved for Balenciaga or one on a champagne budget, the same look can be achieved by singling out a viable option already in your wardrobe and just simply giving it the double cold shoulder. And if your budget will allow you to extend itself to the real deal .. good for you .. just don’t tell us where you live you may regret it ..
