In the precursor to Paris Fashion Week this season, my office was a frenzy. If co-ordinating a fashion week schedule is not stressful enough, show confirmations and appointments included, the most obvious other issue is what to wear. Sadly the Libran in me seems to have difficulty with this somewhat standard necessity and somehow or other I usually find myself shoving every item of clothing in close range into a suit case. Those movies where heroine’s are seen frantically jostling their suitcases just to get the god forsaken things done up, is not far from the visual that you can imagine unfolding in my bedroom.
Well this season I ‘tried’ to be a little more organised and in the process of having time on my side, creativity had time to bloom. A series of previously forgotten favourite items this season, where updated with some DIY adjustments, it’s amazing what one can achieve with some ribbon and some good old fashion imagination. The first example is this McQ Blazer, that with a little DIY charm, became a new wardrobe staple thanks to 6 metres of white ribbon and an eyelet press, thank you very much.
You see, style is not necessarily about what we are wearing, but how we choose to wear it, reinventing the old and creating new. In the words of DVF .. ‘Style is something that each of us already has, all we need to do is find it’, even if it means pulling out a needle and thread ..
