22 Hours travel for a 3 day trip may seem worthwhile for only so many things..ie. your best friend’s wedding on the other side of the world, a return flight home to visit an unwell family member or .. most importantly … the launch of the Alexander Wang for H&M collection. One of the most anticipated collaborations of the year. A lot can be achieved in a New York minute..that is a hell of a lot more than your average Queensland minute, so when you have an opportunity like this you have to grab it. When one of the world’s most eminent contemporary designers collaborates with one of the world’s most prominent high street entities you know that magic is going to happen.
The launch event itself was something on a whole other level. After boarding buses to Harlem and arriving at an indoor track and field coliseum, clad from floor to ceiling in the signature black Alexander Wang aesthetic, the show began with capoeira style gymnasts dramatically descending from ropes to the floor to start an incredibly cool hip hop X aerobic routine, to fresh New York beats. Storming into the performance hot off the press was Natasha Poly in an Alexander Wang X H&M look, fierce enough to make a front row gridiron champion run the other way. The entire collection from head to toe was sports-lux cross street wear perfection. Only a genius like Mr Wang could interpret an entire new genre of dressing bringing the idea of every day girls like us wearing sports wear at night .. from the man himself ” I love the versatility of clothes if you’re going out, going dancing, you’re going to sweat so you need to move and be active”. Thank you to H&M and the king of modern day genre creation Alexander Wang, we can’t wait until the collection hit stores this Thursday, if only we could wear the pieces now, we’d be dressed appropriately to RACE and snap up the goodness..
ALEXANDER WANG x H&M will be available here this Thursday the 6th of November .. xx
