No man is an island, but let’s be honest every girl wants to visit one. With an abundance of warm sandy beaches and shore skimming tropical reefs as far as the eye can see, this magical island is a place that I’d be happy to get washed up on. Bedarra Island is not only one of the most beautiful islands on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, but was also the backdrop for a campaign I recently photographed and directed for one of our all time fave denim brands, Nobody Denim.
As you know ladies, there are jeans and then there are ‘jeans’. Good denim has a tendency to take you from feeling not so summer ready, to lotion me up baby it’s time to hit the sand. With the release of Nobody’s summer denim collection, the OF team and I packed a van load of denim filled suitcases filled and headed for the far north.
Inspired by the cerulean blues of far away crystal waters and with the free spirited jet-set girl in mind, the Holiday Blues collection only made sense to photograph in this uber insta-worthy destination.
Skipping from one deserted micro-island to the next with picnic baskets filled with goodies may be my new favourite way to conduct a photo shoot. Upon landing on the shores of these mini picture perfect paradises the most difficult decision was based around what time to have lunch or how to not leave behind a crew member when conducting a location recky. As the team and I were shooting the campaign we could see dolphins frolicking in the shallows and hear nothing other than tiny waves lapping the shore.
You may think that our muse for the shoot, Aussie model Alice Morgan, who’s fronted Vogue covers photographed by Mario Testino may be unfazed by a home based shoot. But the abundance of nature and a warm serving OF hospitality accompanied by our fab production skills would make it difficult for any girl to want to leave.
And so with that I bring you our latest work and a project that I’m very fond of .. Nobody Denim’s ‘Holiday Blues’ .. things are only looking sunny from here on in .. x
