Welcome to Portugal and the magical Casa Modesta, which might I add speaking from personal experience is a pure slice of heaven. Recently my team and I travelled to the south of Portugal to photograph this instal-drool worthy location which has long been on our travel buck list.
Casa Modesta is not like any other Sunday Sanctuary that we’ve featured to date and it’s not just because this is the first time we’ve personally photographed a space. There is a story behind Casa Modesta steeped in family history that once you’ve visited leaves you longing to return.
Long time residents to the Algarve region, The Fernandes family have owned the property over generations which may come as a surprise considering the Casa’s modern architectural aesthetic. Upon arrival at the Casa my team and I were greeted by Carlos Fernandes, grandson to Joaquim Modesto de Brito the namesake foundation behind the Casa Modesta story. Where the family home once stood, now lies an intimate 9 room boutique residence where one can experience a holiday like no other. The Casa Modesta ethos goes beyond the norm when it comes to hospitality, with a strong focus on connecting guests with an immersive experience when it comes to local artisans, the dynamic food culture and the native surrounds.
Casa Modesta may just be our favourite and most insta-worthy location that we’ve travelled to yet, it ticks all of our boxes when it comes to aesthetically pleasing backdrops, delicious home cooked gourmet cuisine and how could we forget the in-house mascot golden retriever Salvadore.
