Some people say that it’s all about the journey and most of the time I’d agree, however in this case it’s all about the destination.
Byron Bay… the Eastern most point of Australia, home of the Land Down Under’s largest wild dolphin population, and more importantly one of the most understatedly chic destinations in the world.
Byron Bay you say? Chic you say? Are you sure? Byron Bay may once have been a destination for the vagabond traveller, colourful tie-dyed T-shirts lining the streets floating in the breeze on their hangers along with the aroma of Sai Baba and other exotic aromas. However, times they are a changin’ and nowadays dotted amongst the palm readers and juice bars you’ll find a smattering of cool little eateries and boutique hotels, full to the brim with the Jetset.
Where once I would pack my overnighter with havaianas and terry towelling whatever’s, I’ve since found myself under-gunned in the style department, and therefore have happily chosen to up the ante. Don’t get me wrong Byron is still all about that famous relaxed nonchalant vibe, it’s just that well… what girl doesn’t want an excuse to add to her list of wardrobe investments.
Last week I shared some pics of my escape to Byron with Net-A-Porter, so this week I thought I’d mix things up a little and share with you kids my all black vacation edit and Jet-A-Porter essentials. Buttery soft bikini’s thanks to Fella Swim, architectural mother-of-pearl earrings inspired by the ocean via Cornelia Webb, cropped flares from Ellery and the Gucci Dionysus Bag of all Gucci Bags, all pieces to pack for the perfect Byron escape.
You know though in retrospect you don’t really need to plan a holiday to Byron Bay to have the excuse to shop, especially when it comes to Net-A-Porter. In fact if you ask me the modern woman is entitled to shop all day long if she pleases .. she just needs to make sure that at the end of the day she puts some well earned time aside for a holiday.. x
