I’m not going to lie, I still felt my bones thawing from the freezing temperatures of Paris as I walked through the doors of Byron Bay’s Halcyon House for this balmy little getaway. It was a no-brainer to me to accept the offer to join friends Saasha Burns and Sam Leetham, for the launch of their latest brainchild BEAR Journal .. and besides Halcyon may be one of the most insta-friendly places that you’ll ever visit so how can a sister say no right?
If you like to lounge on deckchairs in a string bikini like a 1970’s groupie, or rock out your bathrobe in the breakfast restaurant like a middle-aged housewife, then this was the trip for you. With an itinerary that included gin cocktail workshops and combi van excursions the stress levels were high, but don’t worry you always had Halcyon and your hosts healthy appetite for long lunches to calm your anxiety levels.
Personal highlights include belting out a rendition of Bowie’s ‘We Could Be Hero’s’ in the back of a combi with Kit-X’s Kit Willow.. and the freshly shucked oysters with grapefruit which I strongly suggest you pair with Kalani Miller’s surfing themed Chanel 2.55 that I nearly stole off the table. And although I don’t have photographic evidence to show for it, I’ve got a better idea .. join me next year for the reunion tour or better still check out BEAR Journal, it’s as good as a holiday only without the hangover .. x
