It was Mr Ralph Lauren himself who once said .. “Style is very personal. It has nothing to do with fashion. Fashion is over very quickly. Style is forever”.
An iconic statement from such an iconic man with such an understanding of the real meaning as to why, when we walk out the door each day, we put so much effort into what we wear. Thankfully Mr Lauren has such an appreciation for dressing the modern woman, the cool kids and the everyday girl like you or I, that he and his team created the ever essential ‘Drawstring Ricky Bag’. With a cross body strap for the model off-duty types, the drawstring closure for the practical slash messy types (yours truly) and the key lockable fastener for the late night femme fatale types, this bag ticks all the right boxes. So when recently I was approached to curate, photograph and style a campaign for the ‘Ricky’, it was an offer to good to refuse.
Inspired by the Ralph Lauren Fall Winter 2015 show and with pieces utilised from the exact same collection, we took to the field to draw homage to the Drawstring Ricky and all that surrounds it. What better way to infuse Ready To Wear tailoring and tall golden fields, than with a nod to Ralph’s equestrian influences and our trusty grey ‘Missy’. With the Ricky redefining the modern girls saddlebag, the carry all accessory to take you from the field to the street, we think we’ve picked a winner and she ain’t no dark horse ..
