Wavy glass vessels tinted with obsidian, earthy textured organic shaped vases and bowls stacked one inside of the other burnished in sea foamy hues reminiscent of the salty ocean. Amid a virtual sea of delicious home accoutrements and soft furnishings, there gathered a group of stylists, directors and creatives all working on the very first instalment for the newly released JONES Home Magazine, a style guide and on-trend go-to for the eminent Australian retailer and OF favourite David Jones. This was my first role as the Creative Director a film focused on Interiors, and a challenge I was glad to step up to… the perfect ‘vessel’ to flex some creativity in motion if you’ll pardon the pun. To arrange a series of sets with objects strategically placed was like painting an artwork only with vases and glassware as your brushes, and the most beautiful home on Sydney Harbour as the canvas.

This first edition of Jones Magazine focuses on key Autumn trends Warm Minimalism, Considered Comfort and Retro Pop, genre’s with the kind of colour palettes that aren’t that dissimilar to those found on the runway and equally as lust-worthy. So the stage was set and with three key trends in mind, I was honoured with the task of styling the sets for each; curating my favourite pieces and directing a short film that I was lucky enough to work on with super talent Ed Trigone. Balancing objects, twirling anthuriums and arranging one of my favourite prints by OF By Amanda Shadforth was all in a days work. The end result? Something I’m very happy to write ‘home’ about.
