It only feels like yesterday that I was lucky enough to be shaking it on the dance floor at the Valentino Spring 2017 afterparty while head designer Mr Pierpaolo Piccioli cut tracks behind the DJ booth. The rainbow lightbox dance floor was covered in a sea of men and women, but it was the females owning the floor. It’s no surprise then that Mr Piccioli is so good at dressing women, it would seem that he has an innate sensibility when it comes to understanding what women want. And on that note this season Valentino Fall 2018 Ready To Wear was all about Romanticism.
Flowing floor length gowns, minimalist in shape and elaborate in detail, graced the runway alongside embellished floral coats overlaid with scalloped edging, just some of my favourite silhouettes. This may be the 4th Valentino show that I’ve attended now and every season as I sit on from the side and watch I get a little emotional. It may be the fact that I still pinch myself that I’m lucky enough to view such beauty in motion or that I’m just so happy to be there. Butt if there’s one thing I can count on from Mr Piccioli, it’s that he knows how to reach your heart .. which in turn usually has me then reaching for my wallet .. x
