My most recent Cèline experience (and a certain highlight of the year) involved having the opportunity to wear one of my favourite looks from the Spring 2018 Ready To Wear show, Phoebe Philo’s last Ready To Wear collection for the French luxury house of our dreams. In my eyes Philo has always been one step ahead, whether its Furkenstoeks or Greige-khaki suits with big shoulders, she has always set the pace in the fashion stakes.
In need of a little Thursday inspiration, the Cèline Pre-Fall 2018 lookbook came at perfect timing. Shot by Philo’s friend Juergen Teller, this, her last collection, leaves a lasting impression. Adding a new chapter to the aesthetic story that she has told so perfectly for so many years now, this collection sits flawlessly in between extravagant chicness and classic wearability. With a large emphasis on leather deluxe and patchwork graphics cut in mostly black, this collection is very french and we are here for it. In true Cèline style, Phoebe Philo allows the simplicity of her garments to speak for themselves, and ensures they will for a long time to come.
