Earlier in 2016 when I visited Tokyo with Louis Vuitton for the ‘Volez, Voguez, Voyagez’ Exhibition there were whispers in the air of a possible perfume launch, the first time in nearly 90 years that LV would return to the fragrance realm.
As we were taken on a private tour around the exhibition there were subtle hints throughout that it was only a matter of time that Louis Vuitton would surprise us with a new sensory acquisition. Glass cabinetry encapsulating vintage bottles of branded perfume, the aroma long gone.. leaving the house and those who uncovered them in the brand archives, yearning for but just a whiff of what those bespoke hand-made glass bottles once contained. Without the ability to preserve these earlier fragrances it was up to master perfumer Jacques Cavalier Belletrud to interpret a new collection of parfums that would become the aroma’s of Louis Vuitton.
Rose De Vents, Turbulences, Dans La Peau, Apogée, Contre Moi, Matière Noi and Mille Feux are the seven fragrances that make up Louis Vuitton Les Parfums. Reminiscent of a time when one would draw upon a wardrobe of fragrances depending on the mood. It only seems fitting that for each day of the week one can select the scent that best reflects the current state of mind .. cue my personal selection for Monday Morning and a dab of Contre Moi as stated by Mr Cavalier Belletrud ‘a fragrance that transports to unchartered territories with a rebellious temperament’ .. with 2 coffee’s under my belt by 9am and an overloaded inbox this may sound accurate .. no?
