Since my vaguely recent addiction to summer layering I thought it only fitting to discuss with you today, my good friends, another recent personal fixation .. the vest. Let me just highlight here some of the more subtle and let us more indulgent observations as to why I believe you need to create a space in your treasured wardrobe for this unassuming item.
Firstly, the vest is an essential fashion staple for the general connoisseur of fine cuisine..let’s be honest, what better disguise is there, when one need’s to undo one’s top button from overindulging in too much pomme frittes during a Sunday lunch with friends. Secondly, the vest is an excellent essential in times of outfitting crisis when one is suffering from commitment issues due to lack of knowledge of the day’s temperate (take recent strangely fluctuating weather days as an example). And, lastly but most importantly, the vest is the unofficial calling card for the cool girl. A subtle and recognisable secret code of recognition amongst the Lou Doillon’s of the modern world that mention in a lilted french accent .. that you ‘know what you’re talking about’.
So now on that note, I’d like to share with you that I’ve located a signature vest that will be sure to cover all of the aforementioned bases, a little black number from McQ Alexander McQueen . At the perfect length and the kind of collar that I’m sure would leave Lou envious in her Chelsea boots, a vest like this is the ticket to unencumbered dining and lucky for us .. just right amount of cool girl calibre.
