I’m not going to lie I’ve always wanted to live in a tree house, but..I guess who doesn’t? There’s something about the idea of being perched amongst the tree tops, surrounded by nature’s beauty. Branching out from my usual monochromatic sunset’s and blue oceanic landscapes (I know… are you proud of me!?) it was time to step it up and take on the green lush back drop of Tropical North Queensland. For someone so colour challenged this may seem like no green .. ah hum .. mean feat! However the lure of sparkling hidden rock pools and tree top hide outs was far to strong for this Viridian vagabond. Nestled on the Mossman Gorge River in Australia’s magical Daintree Rainforest lies a place I really should be keeping a secret, the Silky Oaks Lodge and Healing Waters Spa. Crystal clear mountain streams rush past the tree cloaked cabins where one can spend their day, kayaking, swimming, exploring or basically getting your koala bear on and just relaxing. With all this in mind it would be safe to now say that I for one am keen for green, I think that a picture tells a thousand words and this story has only just begun. If you have the chance to visit this magical destination I’m sure that you’ll feel the same way, but maybe we can keep it our secret..well we could at least try anyway.
A very special thank you to my hosts Paul and Barbara Van Min and the amazing team at Silky Oaks Lodge as well as Tourism Queensland for showing us such a good time.. xx
