Amongst the hallowed lane-ways of inner city Paris, set somewhere between the River Seine and the Champs Élysées sits an artisan apartment like no other. It would only seem fitting then that this would be the chosen creative hideaway for Australian Designer Kym Ellery, an artist in her own right. This season while in Paris, Ellery Fall 2015 RTW was shown at Kenzo House, the former apartment of another creative genius the founding designer of the eponymous fashion house Kenzo. With all of this in mind it would only seem fitting that being a visual artist myself, I would take a trip to Kym’s ‘Artist in Residence’ type abode to team up with this clever lady and shoot some of my favourite pieces from the collection.
Brocade suiting, sparkly oversized wool coats and those famously flared signature Ellery trousers are just a few personal highlights from the collection. This season’s muse being the nudes of Egon Shiele’s master pieces, the 20th Century Austrian artist, once the protege of Gustav Klimt. Well it would seem Egon’s muses have grown up and err.. got dressed, and let’s just say gained a great deal of style! So thanks to Miss Ellery and her consistently inspiring aesthetic you now have another type of beautiful object d’art to collect, instead this time it won’t be of the 2 dimensional kind but a wearable artwork .. even better ..
