Let me begin by divulging that even though it may not look like it, this trip for me was all about work. No seriously I promise, there was a lot of late nights enjoying fine wine working late on my computer, sweating under the cabana with a cocktail from all the stress, and basically trying to make the most of the perfectly delightful balmy North Queensland weather. You see recently I was humbled and excited to be invited to Hamilton Island Audi Race Week, a week initially developed for the hardened sailor, an event where their courage and skills were put to the test in a race that determined the salty dogs from the drowning frogs. However in recent times this event has evolved into one of not just sloops and starboard tacks, but of high fashion and articulately curated pairings of wine and award winning Michelin star feasts.
Enjoying tree top bungalow accommodation ala Qualia Resort was not the only highlight for this hard working internet fiend. A lunch supported by the highly coveted Charles Heidsieck Wines set the scene for work to begin. A word class Net-A-Porter runway event fully equipped with a floating poolside catwalk, left us all a little distracted from those late night posting schedules (well that’s my excuse anyway!). Lunch at Qualia’s Pebble Beach with the humbled and incredibly delightful Chris Paspaley and the Paspaley Pearl team, conjured ideas of how the new millennium work space should ideally be curated. And lastly a private cruise to Whitehaven Beach alongside the yacht race seemed to be the best way to collect new inspiration for those concept deadlines, thank goodness for ‘location scouting’ breaks!
All in all my advice would be this, one always seems to work better with an umbrella clad Mimosa in one hand, just be sure to do a spell check when you submit that final copy. In the event that there are some discrepancies blame sunstroke..I’m sure that you can request a Doctors Certificate for that.. xx
A special thank you to Hamilton Island Australia and to Audi Australia for the luxury island style chauffeur service.
A special thank you to my beautiful friend and photographer Madelyn Wray ..x
