This concrete dream was created by French architect the one and only Ludwig Godefroy, as a holiday or weekend retreat for a client to sought out the the tranquil Zicatela beach location. Not your typical beach house Godefroy design the dwelling to depict a country side retreat with robust, insular and character.

“The house is a bunker on the outside protecting a Mexican pyramid on the inside,” claimed the architect. Ah… the connection of ancient Aztec temples is evident. Godefroy goes on to explain this influence of ancient temples from his adopted home, the landscape of Normandy.

Throughout this estate carefully placed openings in walls and roofs of the various rooms allow daylight to wash across these textured surfaces. The only other material present is the wood used for the doors and louvred screens.

Needless to say, I know where I’m headed the next time I need to get some rancho relaxo and allow the creative juices to flow… xx
